A password manager remembers your logins for you, so every account can have its own strong password. The Australian Cyber Security Centre recommends one for important accounts. It saves time too: no more resetting forgotten passwords.

Best for your situation

  • You want a polished tool with security reporting: 1Password
  • You're on a tight budget and value privacy: Proton Pass
  • You share logins by group or folder: NordPass

The options, one by one

1Password

Best for a team that wants a polished password manager with security reporting

Bottom line: A business password manager with a 14-day free trial. The reporting on weak and reused passwords is part of the Business plan.

Pros

  • A 14-day free trial, no credit card required.
  • The Business plan flags weak, reused or breached passwords and supports role-based vault sharing.
  • Apps for macOS, iOS, Windows, Android and Linux, plus browser extensions, and SOC 2 Type II certification.

Cons

  • Single sign-on connections and Watchtower alerts are on the Business plan, not the starter pack.
  • The business pricing page lists a trial but no free plan.

Who it's for: Small teams that want shared vaults and clear visibility of password health.

Who it's not for: Solo owners who only need personal logins and want a free plan.

Proton Pass

Best for a budget-minded team that values privacy

Bottom line: A privacy-focused password manager from Proton with a free personal plan and a 14-day business trial.

Pros

  • Shared vaults, a built-in 2FA authenticator and dark web monitoring are listed for business plans.
  • A free personal plan and a 14-day business trial.

Cons

  • The business plan has a 3-user minimum, and its listed price may be an introductory rate.
  • We did not verify its single sign-on options. Check with Proton if you need them.

Who it's for: Small teams that want a lower-cost option and care about privacy.

Who it's not for: Teams that need advanced identity integrations we haven't verified.

NordPass

Best for teams that share logins by group or folder

Bottom line: A business password manager with group and folder-based sharing and breach monitoring.

Pros

  • Group-based and folder-based credential sharing.
  • Password strength monitoring and data breach monitoring, and a free business trial.

Cons

  • The Business plan has a 5-user minimum, and the Teams pack is for 10 users.
  • Prices did not display in our check, so confirm them on NordPass's site.

Who it's for: Teams of a handful of people or more who share many logins by department.

Who it's not for: Very small teams under the user minimum.

How we reviewed this

Our method

We read each vendor's own published pages and note what they say. We have not tested these products hands-on, and we give no ratings or scores. Pros and cons are facts from those pages. "Who it's for" and "who it's not for" are our reading of them. We may earn a commission if you buy through some links, at no extra cost to you. Commissions may influence which products we choose to cover, but not our assessment of them. See how we work and our affiliate disclosure.
